A few years ago, I came across the idea of using Spanish olive oil on my face as a cleanser and a moisturizer. Of course, like any good writer, I don’t keep going with an idea until I’ve done some research on possible benefits or consequences. That’s when I discovered the secrets of Spanish extra virgin olive oil and skin care, as well as its use as a cure for blackheads.

Used in the skin care regimens of generations of women from Spain, I soon realized Spanish olive oil is the one thing you should always have as part of your skin care regimen. And you should use it every day.

In fact, extra virgin olive oil seems to be sound kind of miracle worker, if you really want beautiful skin and a face with not a single blackhead. I know as I now have one.

How to Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil to Remove Blackheads and Clear Your Skin

There’s nothing easier than curing blackheads with Spanish olive oil. Plus, it’s cheap and, if it gets in your mouth, it’s healthy for your whole body too. Here’s how to do it.

1. Pour a pool of olive oil the size of a quarter into your palm and, with your finger tips, rub it completely into your face. Rub the oil, in circular movements, around every inch of your face, taking particular care on and around your nose, your forehead and your cheeks — anywhere where you have blackheads. Massage the olive oil in for around 1-2 minutes.

2, Wet a clean face cloth with hot water, as hot as you can stand. Press the face cloth to your face and hold it there until the water goes cold — around 30 seconds or so.

3. Rinse the face cloth with more hot water and repeat, but this time rub it gently over your face removing the top layer of olive oil. Pat your face dry with a paper towel and that’s it.

4. Do this every morning and every night. Within a week, you won’t even recognize your own skin.

How Long Does It Take to See a Difference?

I started using Spanish olive oil to clean my face a few years ago. Within three days, the blackheads I’ve always had around my nose area were completely gone. Within two weeks, the pores on my cheeks, forehead and nose had shrunk so much they were barely visible. My skin had a rosy glow and looked gorgeous. Thanks to Spanish olive oil that is.

Years later, my skin is still glowing, it’s blackhead-free, it’s softer and plumper than before and minor marks from years of having acne have almost disappeared. Apparently, many women notice olive oil clears up old scarring — a combination of the antioxidants in the oil and the moisturizing effect the oil itself has.

Of course, living in Spain, I only use extra virgin olive oil from Spain and don’t buy olive oil from other countries. That’s because it’s the best, as Spanish olive oil is not blended, like olive oils from most other countries, and is almost always guaranteeed pure.

For an average sized bottle of extra virgin olive oil from a typical Spanish brand, I spend around $4.50 a week but, I don’t just use it on my face. Some of it goes on my salads too.

Not exactly the most expensive facial cleanser (or salad dressing) you’ll ever use, and a very cheap cure for blackheads. But, I’m telling you, it works.
