Stay at a Cheap Youth Hostel in Granada, Spain – Excellent Location, Clean and Safe Accommodation

Home of the Alhambra, one of the world’s most famous Islamic historical buildings, Granada is one of Spain’s most visited tourist destinations. Several million tourists arrive in Granada every year, with many of them looking for cheap accommodation. Luckily, if you don’t mind sharing a dorm room or a tiny room, Granada has some excellent youth hostels, where you can get a clean bed for the night in a convenient location, eat great food and meet some interesting people. If you’re looking for a cheap youth hostel in Granada, look no further than these three. They’re excellent.

Oasis Backpackers’ Hostel Granada – Oasis is a chain of backpacker youth hostels, with locations in several Spanish cities as well as one in Portugal. Known for their beautifully designed hostels that offer cool amenities, clean beds and convenient locations, once you’ve stayed in an Oasis backpacker hostel, you might not want to stay anywhere else.

The Oasis Backpackers’ Hostel in Granada is no different. Highly rated on many youth hostel websites, Oasis Backpacker’s Hostel Granada offers accommodation in an incredible building with views out over the Alhambra. The hostel is spotlessly clean, run by friendly staff, serves great food (breakfast is included in the nightly rate) and even has a roof-top sunbathing patio.

For less than $25 a night, you’ll get a clean bunk bed in a 10-bed mixed dorm room. You’ll share a bathroom (which again is wonderfully clean) and you’ll also have access to all the hostel’s amenities. A free Wi-Fi internet lounge, a bar, a fully-equipped kitchen where you can cook lunch and dinner, free private lockers, free Spanish lessons, free tapas tour, complimentary tea and coffee all day and lots more.

The Oasis Backpacker’s Hostel is located at Placeta Correo Viejo, 3, Albayzin, 18010 Granada.

Hostal Antares – One of the coolest-designed youth hostels in Granada, the Hostal Antares is different than some other hostels in that it only offers private rooms – nice if you don’t like sleeping in a dorm room with folks you don’t know.

At the Hostal Antares, bedrooms are simple but beautifully decorated in typical Granada style. Single rooms begin at $35 a night. For this, you have a small, but brightly colored, cheerful room, a shared bathroom (spotlessly clean), a work desk and a small TV with cable. There’s also a microwave on every floor, so if you prefer to eat in your room than outside, you can heat up whatever you like. Rooms also include air conditioning, you’ll just have a small extra charge to pay if you want to use it.

The hostel has free Wi-Fi internet throughout the entire building, a family room, a tour desk and free luggage storage if you check in early or want to leave late. The owners are absolutely lovely and a great resource if you need help getting around Granada, although it shouldn’t be too difficult as the Hostal Antares is within walking distance of many of the city’s famous attractions.

You’ll find the Hostal Antares at Cetti Meriem, 10, Centro, 18010 Granada .

Hostal Sonia, Granada – Another excellent, yet cheap, youth hostel in Granada, the Hostal Sonia offers small, basic private rooms that are comfortable, clean and in a location only a few minutes walk from the Alhambra, cafes, restaurants and Granada’s bustling nightlife. It’s also in the same building as the Hostal Antares just on different floors. So if you arrive at the last minute, you’ve two possible choices of accommodation for the night.

The Hostal Sonia has 24 guest rooms in three room sizes – twin, double and triple. All are reasonably priced and, surprising for a hostel, they all have private en suite baths, cable TV and air conditioning. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, complimentary baggage storage and safety deposit boxes at the front desk where you can store your passport and any valuables.

Room rates begin at $32 and, surprisingly, you often get the cheapest rate on the Hostal Sonai’s website.

The Hostal Sonia is at Gran Via de Colon, 38 3º 18010 Granada.
