Not only a top destination for British tourists, Javea in Spain is also a great place if you enjoy British cuisine. While, of course, eating Spanish food is the preferred way to go on a trip to Spain, sometimes you just want a home-cooked English-style meal, and a number of British restaurants in Javea serve them.
These top three Javea British restaurants serve some of the best, and most delicious, British food in town.
Scallops – One of the most popular restaurants in Javea, British cuisine or not, Scallops is situated right on the beach, overlooking the gorgeous bay. At Scallops, if you’re looking for British food, the best place to start is with their full English breakfast. Eggs, bacon, toast, baked beans and cereal are just some of the options and, when you can walk out only having spent 3 euros, it’s a great deal.
For lunch or dinner try either their €7.95 or €9.95 set meals, as they’re both amazing deals. You’ll get choices like pate and toast, potato wedges, prawn cocktail, scallops, fish and chips, gammon steaks, chicken and mushroom pies, sausages and mash (with gravy, of course), pizzas and more.
The food at Scallops is incredible and prices are cheap. Add in lovely staff, a stunning view and it is no wonder Scallops has been known as the best British restaurant in Javea for more than 14 years. You’ll find Scallops at the south end of Paseo Arenal.
Dillinger’s – Another excellent British restaurant, Dillinger’s serves inexpensive British cuisine in a lovely atmosphere.
While they have an a la carte menu, the best deals are their menu del dias. For around €9.95. you will get an appetizer, main meal and dessert, plus a full bottle of wine, and with choices like fish and chips, pies, steaks and, of course, their incredibly decadent desserts, you shouldn’t miss this.
Dillinger’s is on the Paseo Arenal in Javea.
Marples Cafe Bar and Tea Rooms – Just one of the prettiest English tea rooms you’ll ever visit, Marples starts out early in the morning with a scrumptious full English breakfast. At lunch, don’t miss trying one (or more!) of their delicious British-style sandwiches with, of course, a pot of tea. For dessert, a cream cake wouldn’t go amiss.
Finally, if you’re part of the ladies-who-lunch set or just love a good British afternoon tea, then Marples is for you. Sit outside on the patio, or inside, it doesn’t really matter is everything is bright, light and so cheery. Plus, surrounded as you are by greenery and flowers, it’s the perfect spot for a lovely British cup of tea.
Marples is at Avda del Fontana, 5-3A, Arenal in Javea. They’re open every day.
