It wasn’t a good day for the former Mayor of Casares, Juan Sánchez, yesterday, as he was arrested along with his wife and lawyer on allegations of town planning crimes. His offices were searched, as well as town halls in Casares, Estepona and Málaga. and evidence was gathered from files and computers.
There hasn’t been much news released on what exactly police are looking for but it has been suggested Juan Sánchez may have been taking kickbacks in exchange for city building contracts.
The investigation in Casares and beyond is being carried out by the Guardia Civil and the National Police. As of today, no charges have been filed against Mr. Sánchez, his wife and lawyer but they haven’t been ruled out.
More arrests may also be made depending on what evidence police uncover.
