As anyone knows who lives or has lived in Spain and paid an electricity bill, electricity tariffs in Spain are expensive yet still increase often. That’s why it pays to go with the cheapest supplier, if you don’t want to be price gouged on your electricity costs.
Many people, and particularly non-Spaniards, however, seem to think they have to call every electricity supplier in Spain and find out what their current rates are before they decide who to sign up with. That’s not true at all, as there’s a much easier way to do it, and it’s all doable from the comfort of your own home.
To find the cheapest electricity tariffs in Spain or, in particular, in your area, all you have to do is to go to the Comisión Nacional de la Energía’s (CNE) website (National Energy Commission in English), and compare rates for each supplier.
Just enter your postcode (Código Postal) in the box provided and your approximate annual consumption, and then click the ‘Seguir’ button at the bottom.Companies will then come up with their approximate costs with, a nice touch, the cheapest Spanish electricity supplier for your area pulling up at the top of the list.
You can also look at normal electricity tariffs in your area of Spain or calculate the same usage with night tariffs, so you can get an idea of if it would be possible for you to save even more money.
Awesome, eh?
